Rohan Enamandra is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the Northern Virginia area who has a deep love for musical experimentation and genre bending. He enjoys singing, playing the piano, guitar, bass, and drums.
Rohan began taking classical piano lessons around the age of four. He continued his training for the next thirteen years, during which he performed at several recitals and concerts. At his first piano recital, Rohan was written about in the local newspaper, The Chantilly Times, dated June 23, 2005: “… a kindergarten prodigy composer and pianist … Bright-eyed Rohan approached his third recital with obvious ease, making eye contact with the audience as he played …” As an early teenager, Rohan was selected twice as a Grand Prix Winner at the Music-Fest auditions to perform at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, New York. During the second Carnegie Hall performance, Rohan displayed his compositional skills by playing his own arrangement of a Bagatelle piece.
Rohan is also trained in Carnatic music vocals, which is a form of Indian Classical music. This provided him with a solid foundation for exploring and understanding unusual scales and time signatures.
Today, Rohan continues to leverage his training to create soulful, thought-provoking music. His playing style is very picturesque, focusing on details that create vivid mental images in the listener’s mind.
Rohan utilized the skills he acquired through his piano and vocal training to develop a basic understanding of the guitar, bass guitar, and drums on his own.
Today, Rohan is a member of three other musical projects. He plays guitar in a pop punk band called Watersdeep. He also plays the piano in a math rock duo called Eutierria, and does vocals in a metalcore band called Insurrectionist.
